The Five Pillars of Islam

The 5 Pillars consist of:
1. Faith: Shahada (confession of faith),
2. Salah (prayer, namaz),
3. Zakat (almsgiving),
4. Sawm (fasting, especially during the month of Ramadan), and
5. Hajj (the pilgrimage to Mecca/Makka).
Why are they important?
These obligations provide the framework of a Muslim's life, and weaves their everyday activities and their beliefs into a single cloth of religious devotion.
No matter how sincerely a person may believe, Islam regards it as pointless life without putting that faith into action & practice.
Carrying out the 5 Pillars demonstrates that the Muslim is putting their faith first, and not just trying to fit it in their secular lives.
